This piece of Nightmare Before Christmas fanart is from October 2015’s Inktober. I had this idea for an odd, lilting, “dancing” Sally to bring out her ragdoll nature. I had a lot of fun drawing her dress. And those stones. And her hair. 8.5×11 on Strathmore 500 2-ply Bristol board and done with dip pen, brush, and archival Koh-I-Noor drawing ink.

Inktober was created in 2009 by artist Jake Parker. His goal was to challenge himself to improve his inking skills and work on developing better drawing habits. Since then, many illustrators around the world participate in Inktober, drawing as many ink drawings as they can – the standard being one a day – throughout October, and they share their work via social media.
