Self-imposed comics rehab, day 23

I just spent an hour outlining a couple of comic story ideas. The one I outlined in some detail is more of a reality-based story, something I’ve been trying to avoid.

I like slice-of-life comics, but I much prefer an element of fantasy. I don’t necessarily want to read about something I could be going through because, well, I’m going through it myself. I prefer the fantasy elements because it provides a bit of escapism yet the reality of the story can still drive home.

Perhaps this says something about me.

I’ll probably spend the rest of the week outlining in the same fashion, just writing down titles and summaries. By the end of the week, hopefully I’ll have something I can choose from for a project. I’m not sure I’m ready for something large yet, but we’ll see. I do want to go at least another rehab week at the drawing table before I tackle anything substantial.
