musician, composer, percussionist, educator, writer, artist, all-around imaginator.

Phillip Ginn is a composer, musician, and educator.

Combining the old and new, the proven and experimental, and genres of every sort, Phillip creates music that is unique yet accessible, fresh yet inviting, and for ensembles of every sort.

Phillip began his music career in the 2nd grade with piano lessons.  From there it was clarinet, oboe, and then percussion with the Mandarins Drum & Bugle Corps, playing bass drum (1992 season), tenors (1996), and snare (1993-1995, 1998). He has also played drumset and percussion in pop, rock and jazz bands, and Chinese percussion in the Hei Gu Chinese Percussion Ensemble.

He began teaching drumlines in the fall of 1995 and, at the same time, began a composition and arranging career. He has also served as percussion caption head at several high schools. Phillip is currently on staff as a composer, arranger, show designer, and percussion instructor at West Campus High School.

As a partner and co-founder of PiNdrop Music Design, Phillip has had his music played by many different ensembles across the country.

Phillip is based in Sacramento, CA.

In another life, Phillip created comics.  He occassionally blogs about art and life, writes essays for his drum blog and food blog.  Phillip tends to write fiction in whatever spare time he can muster.
